GNU Make

by Tom Fogal last modified 2007-02-12 10:21

Tom Fogal and the UNH ACM will present the basics of GNU Make. Make is a tool to control the compilation of software based on the source files which compose it. It is the standard utility for building software on POSIX platforms, popular for the ability to avoid costly compilation of files which have not changed. We will discuss the algorithms behind Make as well as the basic format of a makefile, showing how you can use it to build your software quickly and easily.

As a chapter of the national Association for Computing Machinery, the UNH ACM seeks to provide students with opportunities for communication, learning, resource-sharing, and even friendly competition. We are a student run and focused organization, always looking for new members and opinions on what the UNH ACM should be. If you are interested in getting involved with the ACM, you only need to show up to a meeting! You can also join our email list by sending an email to: ``Listproc@lists.unh.edu'' with the text ``subscribe acm.members Your Name'' and get involved with our discussions there. We look forward to hearing from you!

GNHLUG and UNH ACM

Posted by Robert Anderson at 2007-02-12 16:55

I would just like to say that GNHLUG and the UNH ACM chapter have worked together in the past on some events and I hope we'll continue to do so in the future.

I encourage the posting of ACM meetings and events that are open to the public on the SLUG site. I hope that some SLUG members are able to take advantage of a few of these events.
