The Enlightenment Window Manager was big in the late 90's. They're not dead yet. Visit their homepage for more info on what they've been up to all this time.

What used to be the Enlightenment Window Manager (or just E) has now turned into a whole suite of tools that hopefully make writing the window manager easier and give us some new graphically flashy tools.

This talk will attempt to show a simple Python program with an EVAS canvas front end. I'll also explain the components of Enlightenment as they exist now. Just to see why you need the component guide let me state that EVAS is just the canvas for EFL, and used by the DR17 window manager. Confused? Stop by next month and we'll see if we can't make some sense of all that.

The most promising use of these tools in on small devices like phones and PDAs. It should work on desktop systems as well, but there are lots of options in that environment that can perform well enough. The EVAS code should work well on weak machines, especially if all their apps use it.
